Clervaux Trust
The name ‘Clervaux’ reflects both the Trust’s connection to the fields, woods and becks around Croft on Tees and a medieval movement for reform and renewal that has equally deep Yorkshire roots. From the 13th century to the 16th, the Clervaux family were landowners around Croft on Tees. In 1999, a Clervaux descendent, Bill Chaytor, donated 33 acres along the Clow Beck to found the Clow Beck Eco Centre. This aimed –
To reconnect young people with nature and the low impact technologies that met human needs before fossil fuel era.
To bring together people, ideas, organisations and businesses that share a similar vision.
To pioneer new and sustainable technologies for the twenty first century.
To inspire young people to respect themselves, their communities and the natural world. These aims are still very much bedded into the Trust as it develops.
